(More customer reviews)Used this tire for my single speed project. Turned an old mountain bike frame into a single speed for around town use. This tire is excellent for that purpose. Essentially a road bike tire for a standard 26" mountain bike wheel.
Just be aware that you will probably need to purchase new tube as well. the tire calls for a much smaller tube than a typical mountain bike tire. It needs a 1" - 1.5" tube. I would recommend the smallest tube as the 1.25 - 1.5 I used was a tight fit but worked just fine.
Otherwise this is a great tire that I don't hesitate to recommend. Like most Michelin tires it is more expensive that competitors but in my research it is the only true road tire available for a 26" wheel.

I was on a budget, and these tires prosmised dependable service, so I took a chance. I trained with these tires for two months prior to my trip, and put a little over a thousand miles on them. During my three month bike tour, I only had one flat, and never experienced any problems, even on some stretches of gravel and dirt roads. After more than 5,000 miles of riding, the tires still look almost new. These are in my opinion, the best street tires for the money.

(More customer reviews)You cannot beat this bicycle for the price. It is actually fabricated in the same overseas factories that Giant builds their frames. It also is the same as the entry-level Chinese-imported Trek frame.
As for Mrs. Roberts and her problems......hate to say it, but each and every problem/symptom you described is a symptom/problem indicating a poor assembly and adjustment. You should have taken the bike(s) to a professional bicycle shop and had the mechanic there do a tune-up on your bike....all those problems would and could have been avoided completely. Chain shifting problems, chain-drop and jamming, wheel loose....all adjustment and assembley problems.
Why do I say this? I was a bike mechanic for approx. 7 years and saw many, many bicycles bought from mass-market merchandisers and over the internet with the same exact problems after the poor or unskilled assembly. Even the bikes the "real" bike shops get have to be assembled and adjusted before they are sold. So, please don't blame the bicycle as being defective, blame the root cause.....the poor assembly and unskilled adjustment of the bicycles.

Kenda K40-HP Street Wire Bead Bicycle Tire, Gumwall, 26-Inch x 1-3/8-Inch Review

(More customer reviews)A pair of (37-590) Kenda K40 "gumwalls" was used to refresh an older Free Spirit bike. Tires mounted reasonably well considering the condition of 30-year-old rims, but make sure the bead is in fact seated evenly before inflating to recommended pressure. A small rib should be visible just above the rim edge, and will help you judge if tire is in place.
My friend is a very happy camper now, and so am I for being able to help out.
Overall, these tires are good enough for the price, mount, look and roll very nicely. The 26 x 1-3/8" was very hard to find locally, and thank you Amazon for keeping the stock.
* Note: One-star reviews for these elsewhere on Amazon are not all deserved. These are *NOT* MTB-sized 26" tires despite a "26" appearing in the size - read specs carefully.
** Tires came in two large flat packages, but could have easily fit in one. This means the wire beads were not bent even a slightest bit (vs. if two were packed in the same box). Amazon could have easily saved on shipping, but didn't this time, which is a nice touch!

Nirve Fairfax Men's European Style Road Bike (700c Wheels, Alfine Pearl Cream) Review

One spoke was broken in shipping, and both wheels were out of true (wobbly, not straight), so I had to leave it at a local bike shop for a week so they could re-true the wheels. I think the wheels can easily be damaged in transit, given the way the bike is packed, so you might want to figure in another $70 to get the wheels re-trued if you order it online.
Broken spokes aside, I'm happy with the way the bike looks. It has a handsome, classic look to it; a look based off of old Raleigh designs. The trouble is: you don't get nearly enough for your money. The saddle and handlebars are cheap-looking plastic. Even the Nirve crest is just a sticker slapped on the front tube. I was able to rip the sticker off, with the help of some Goof-off, so the sticker itself wasn't a problem. I just think the sticker-for-a-crest is emblematic of the disappointing cheap feel of this bike. The internal gear hub and front hub generator are nice features. But on other bikes you can get the internal gear and front hub generator, plus a rack over your rear wheel, plus fenders, plus a real leather and grips, all for hundreds less than this bike.
I thought this would be a nice commuting bike, but the quality of the build and components was severely disappointing. The add-ons included are lacking for a bike in this price range. Overall, this bike feels like a cheap simulacrum of an older, better, design. I'll be selling mine as soon as an opportunity presents. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

At the other end of the crank arm, the female hole for your pedal to screw into is a standard 9/16" threaded. Note that there are Suntour crank arms which in which the square crank spindle hole is configured as shown in the stock photo for this item listing; however, this crank arm, as mentioned, is 45 degrees offset from that shown in the stock photo.
